With the draw completed, the FIFA World Cup in 2022 feels that much closer. The group stage pairings have been fixed, and we can begin to predict who will be going to be in the knockout stages.
In Group B, England will face the United States, in Group C, Argentina, and Lionel Messi will face Mexico, and in Group H, Luis Suarez and Uruguay will try to spoil Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup tournament. The tournament begins on Monday, Nov. 21, and wraps up in less than a month, with the final dated on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Brazil enters as the world’s best squad and is in a relatively easy group, but defending champions France are projected to finish first in their group and have a chance to develop a lead in the tournament.
FIFA World Cup 2022: Format
Only the top two teams from each group will proceed to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022 event. This format will be similar to that used in previous iterations of the World Cup tournament.
After that, the 16 players who have managed to stay alive will compete in a single-game elimination tournament. The victor stays in the competition while the loser is eliminated.
Every match in the knockout phase must have a winner on the day it is played, and if that is not possible, the match will go into extra time and then onto penalty kicks.

Round of 16: Dec. 3-6
Quarterfinals: Dec. 9-10
Semifinals: Dec. 13-14

FIFA World Cup 2022: When do the matches start?
During the group stage, there will be anywhere from two to four matches per day, and they will be spread out across the course of the day. The only matches that will overlap are the ones that are played on the last day of the group stage, and the reason for this is only to preserve the integrity of the competition.
